W.H. Stark House Hosts Free Open House

ORANGE, Texas, December 3, 2007 – Celebrate the holiday season December 11 and 13 from 5-8 pm at the annual W. H. Stark House Holiday Open House. The free event is open to adults and children of all ages and will feature first-floor guided tours, music, decorations, refreshments, and plenty of holiday cheer.
At this year’s event, the Dining Room table will be set for a holiday party using a cut glass punch bowl, a rare sterling silver Gorham tea service, and an array of party treats. The Breakfast Room table will also be set for a Christmas morning family breakfast. Ed Wilson and Ellen Rienstra will be in the Music Room to fill the Stark House with the sounds of the season. The Carriage House will feature refreshments and additional decorations, including a Christmas tree with ornaments made from vintage lace, silk flowers, ribbons, and beads that were found in a sewing box belonging to the Stark family.
Full tours of the Stark House are available with reservations at regular admission. All tours are limited to those ages 10 and up.
The Stark House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark by the Texas Historical Commission. All tours begin at the entrance through the Carriage House at 610 Main Avenue and are available Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Regular admission for a full tour of the House is $5 per person and $2 for seniors ages 65 and over and students ages 10-18.
